Mountain View Veterinary Dairy Services include:

   Dairy Management
We understand that your dairy is more than     just your family business. It’s your livelihood!
Therefore, we’re here to offer you a full range     of veterinary services in order to keep your     animals  producing at maximum performance,     productivity and profitability.
Mountain View Veterinary Services provides     convenient record keeping for pregnancy     diagnosis and  are willing to develop ovulation     synchronization (e.g., Ov-sync) protocols for     your farm.

   Dairy Herd Based Nutritional Testing
Mountain View Veterinary Service’s     veterinarians are pleased to work closely with
you and your nutritionist to review your production records and recommend changes, as
necessary, to improve production and maximize feed efficiency (especially with the rise in feed
costs) on your farm. We also offer a full range of analyses that can identify or alert you of problems
    in your herd’s nutritional status.
    Calcium, Magnesium, & Phosphorous Levels
To detect & prevent milk fever problems in herds or the individual cow at or near calving.
Alterations in these minerals have been attributed to causing conditions such as retained placentas,     ketosis, and LDA’s.
   Subclinical Ketosis
Tests beta-hydroxy buterate levels in the blood to alert us of your cows energy balance. High levels
cause decreased milk production and poor conception rates.
   Non-Esterified Fatty Acids (NEFA’s)
Tests cows at dry off and/or pre-calving for negative energy balance and likelihood of fatty liver.
These values are also associated with ketosis, retained placentas, and LDA’s.
   Sub-acute Ruminal Acidosis (SARA)
Tests pH of rumen fluid for ruminal acidosis, most commonly seen in high producing cows with
increases of grain feeding/sorting of silage/TMR changes or stressful events. This can lead to
diarrhea, poor feed intake, decreased milk yields, decreased milk fat and protein, increased
incidence of laminitis, and reduced fertility.
Milk & Blood Urea Nitrogen (MUN, BUN)
Tests the imbalance of energy in the form of soluable carbohydrates and protein in the ration.
Excess MUN or BUN has been associated with poor conception rates. Can also be utilized to help
control the amount of nitrogen being added to the environment.

   Raising Calfs
We understand that raising calves is an extremely challenging job!
The majority of calf losses occur pre-weaning     from either scours (diarrhea) or respiratory     disease. Other losses are lameness,     difficulties the time of calving, and systemic     infections/navel ill.
Our veterinarians are here to help you make     decisions regarding your calf management     and assist you in making changes to your calf     environment and vaccine schedules to     improve calf health & viability on your farm.     We’re also available to assist difficult calvings     to ensure both cow and calf can have the best     start possible.

   Herd Health
Dairy herd health is the key to running a     successful dairy operation. Healthy cows     mean lower somatic cell counts and higher     milk quality, which leads to more bonuses.
    From reproductive  management and pregnancy
diagnosis to sick cow work and vaccine protocols we offer a full range of veterinary services to keep
the cows in your facility in the best shape possible.

   Sick Cow
We’re here to service your operation in an efficient manner. Whether the case may be mastitis,
milk fever, down cow, ketosis or dystocia we can help with our quick farm calls and our new     transportable blood analyzer to perform on-farm diagnostics. We can also perform in house
mastitis milk cultures at the clinic for timely and cost effective results (compared to sending them
    to outside diagnostic laboratories).

   Nutrition consultation
We will work closely with you and your nutritionist to review your production records and
recommend changes, as necessary, to improve production on your farm.

   Surgery
Our veterinary staff is comfortable performing standing surgeries on the farm including, but
not limited to the most common procedures: left displaced abomasums (LDAs), right displaced
abomasums (RDAs), and cesarean (C-) sections.

   Ultrasound guided pregnancy diagnosis
Find open cows faster with ultrasound guided pregnancy checks. Fetal aging and sexing is also
    possible.

   Emergency
A bovine veterinarian is on call 24/7 in the case of an emergency. Please don’t hesitate to call.

   Drop Ship Supplies & Pharmaceuticals
We offer direct shipment of approved pharmaceuticals at a reduced price to your farm as long
as we have a good working relationship with you and your dairy.
